Embracing Hospice

Physicians are strategically positioned to assist patients and their families entering into hospice care by:

  1. Caring and understanding
  2. Providing the necessary medical information
  3. Maintaining a balance between realism and hope

At Hospice of the Southwest in Arizona we understand that patients want to engage with doctors and health care providers who will realistically discuss their disease with them and their families, all while maintaining hope.  We realize that placing an emphasis on what can and will be done in regards to pain and symptom control, in addition to practical and emotional support is paramount, but it is our mission to discuss all of this all while  sustaining their dignity.

Part of embracing hospice is assuring our patients all of these difficult conversations that are in front of them will take place in an understanding and compassionate environment.  In addition, we understand that our patients want their doctors to assist them in setting realistic goals for the future and discuss realities and practicalities of day-to-day living with their disease moving forward.

Hospice of the Southwest and our care team strive to conduct themselves in harmony with the concept of embracing hospice care and all that it can offer.
